Who am I

After all,

Who am I to tell the sun not to shine?

What good would that do?

So I say, OK fine.

Shine, while I sit here in the dark

But don’t touch me

Who am I to say, keep your rays off my face

Don’t turn my hair gold

But it doesn’t listen

Won’t do as it’s told

Instead it makes everything glisten

I say, at least keep your warmth to yourself

Let me be cold

But it’s warmth washes over me

My breath lights up in its glow

It gives me no escape

No choice but to let go

Don’t you dare touch my heart, I beg

I wait - but the sun doesn’t fight

It lets my heart wait

And tells me that waiting is alright
